ahhhhh....what a weekend.
my hun is a wild-land firefighter so the summers become extra busy for me with him around as much.
this weekend i dyed my first skein of sock yarn and the colors turned out amazing! dark jamaica red, a bright turquiose and toasty brown. i had a lot of fun! i started to knit a baby sock with it yesterday. it's about as big as my thumb. baby socks are dang cute!
my friend patty gave me a loom last week with a bunch o' yarn. i found a couple of books on weaving at a thrift store and so i'm pretty excited to get started. placemats anyone? i'm trying to come up with an original sock bag-tote for the ksks swap. i'm really looking forward to sitting my butt down and getting started on it! allright i gotta go put food in the bellies of the sprouts.

Yesterday was my sprout E's 7th birthday. What a wonderful fun-filled day. I made a cake that looked like an orange slice. I used orange kool-aid in the buttercream frosting. It was......tart and sweet...and... well interesting. I love trying new ideas in the kitchen. Usually I only use the kool-aid for dyeing. This post is a litttle dated but hey?
The picture of Wonder Woman is just practice for me. Love it!
I used to watch this show religiously when i was a youngn'. Our family is spending most of the day at the river. The boys can swim in the frigid water but I like my water to refresh not bite.

OOOOh today was a doozy day! Last day of school for the older sprouts.
Its warming up here in my mountains. It was freezing a couple of days ago. I mean I almost built a fire. Sheesh I just wanna grow one little tomato. My friend L came to visit with her sweet little toe-head. He has the whitest hair I have ever seen on a baby. Other than that I finished the headband I've been knitting. Felted it and buttonfied it. It works. I wore it on a hike the other night and it kept my ears toasty like a bagel.
Thursday night the kids at the school had dinner and a show for the parents. It rocked!!! The food was amazing.
Menu:
Greek spinach phillo triangles
caprese salad on a stick with balsamic
yummy artisan bread w/olive oil dip
homemade butternut mint raviolis
and pork filled raviolis.
a beeeeeeutiful mixed green salad that they grew with their sweet little minds and hands in their very own garden( my fav part)
pistachio and meyer lemon biscotti w/chocolate gelato.
and to top it all off we had science progect presentations and a wonderful earth day is everyday musical.
loved it all love those chitlins!!!!

Okay so I did it.....finally.
I've gone where so many people have gone before.
This blogging world is huge!!!
Today is one beautiful day. I've already taken a bike ride with the sprout.
Wildflowers are everywhere. I can see sprout from the window trying to hide in the empty wine barrel with a popsicle he snagged from the freezer. Stinker-butt!!!
I finally received my sock yarn in the mail and am thinking about the colors I'm gonna use to dye it up with. I am so excited!!!
